Sugarcane State Advised Price declared by Uttar Pradesh is inadequate - MP Jayant Chaudhary
Lucknow, Dec 7 The entire opposition has criticised the Akhilesh Yadav led government for the 'inadequate' hike in State Advisory Price (SAP) for sugarcane and termed it 'unfavourable' for the farmers.
Rashtriya Lok Dal general secretary and MP Jayant Chaudhary has called the fixation of the SAP at Rs 280 per quintal as unjust for the cane farmers. "The state government has proved by its move proved that it is anti-farmers," he alleged.
The state government seems to be more concerned for the sugar mill owners, Mr Chaudhary stated adding, it will place the farmers at a huge loss.
He has flayed the Akhilesh Yadav-led state government for bringing a rise of Rs 40 in the SAP, which was much lesser in comparison to the production cost of sugarcane.
"We were expecting fixation of Rs 325 per quintal for sugarcane this year to ensure a justified price to the cultivators,".
However, the decleration of Rs 280 per quintal would hardly fetch labour cost and production cost to the cane farmers.
In a similar reaction, Rashtriya Lok Dal general secretary and MP Jayant Chaudhary stated that the SAP should have been at least fixed at Rs 400 per quintal, taking in consideration the growing input cost.
The farmers are the backbone of our nation and their progress should be the top-most priority, he added.
Shri Jayant Chaudhary raises the issue of police reforms in the Lok Sabha
Tue, 04 Dec 2012 - Shri Jayant Chaudhary today asked a supplementary question to starred question number 141 relating to the modernisation of police forces. He asked the Minister of Home Affairs whether funds given to the States for police modernisation should be based on the status of police reforms in the States.
Speaking about the Supreme Court judgement on 2006 in the famous 'Prakash Case', Jayant Chaudhary said that "In the Prakash Case, the Supreme Court gave directions to all the States with a view to stop the politicization of the police forces. The state of affairs in my State of Uttar Pradesh is that senior political functionaries keep a eye and hold on the thanas! In my district i have seen several SSPs and the there are frequent transfers in the State.
